MSN's New Search Feature
MSN's new search is out...
Does anyone think this interface looks extremely familiar? What does it look like.. hm... Oh Google!! Dah!
MSN's home page is crowded with information and images. This search page looks very plain compare to the rest of its site. It does not even have ads! Wow.. How is this page going to live now without ads flying all over the sky...
Com'on MSN.. Be a bit creative and ordinary now... With the Hotmail email thing it is just being a copy cat and follower after Gmail and Yahoo! Mail. Try do something a bit different and BETTER next time...

I agree that MSN has to follow right now to get the market share. They are testing their new MSN blogspot and newspot, too. But at least do something so people know it's you MSN search site but not Google's. They are pretty good with face lifting with all their OS and Office products at least.
Google stood out ever since the beginning because of its clean and simple home page and search result interface. It sneaked into people's Internet life quietly because its search results were actually what people wanted.
On the other hand, Microsoft started off using OS domination method on PC and pushed Internet to be as popular as we know it right now. Bill Gates knew Internet would be the future and he wanted a piece of it long ago. (terminal server, SharePoint Portal Server.. All those efforts were trying to centralize application and data online. Microsoft CE, Microsoft Mobile, and Microsoft Tablet PC provided foundation for mobile devices..) MS had been the innovator and leader, though they did not do as well on some areas as they did on others.
But what happens now? They are aiming at the same market as Google and trying to compete directly against it. To compete is to provide something similar yet BETTER. But I am disappointed at this point that Microsoft is really not doing that good compare to all their other products and ideas..
